I like and really enjoyed reading your post. What caught my eye was the mention of the teachtube video. My AP just got back from a conference where she was also exposed to the “shift happens” video.

Teachers today "were not surrounded by technology growing up" (Richardson, 2009). Do you think this plays a role at all in how far technology goes in the classroom? While reading about integrating technology in the classroom, I came across the passage above. It seems as if teachers today could possibly be slightly worried about not knowing what students do when it comes to technology. As a young educator, I want to use technology and do often. How can I reach out to those educators that may be a little reluctant when it comes to technology?

It is hard to believe that the World Wide Web began only 20 years ago. Look how far we have come in that amount of time. As I have been reading about Tim Berners-Lee and his vision for the internet. I am amazed. It was easy for him to start the internet, make it colorful and offer wide ranges of information. How can we change it even more today to fit our needs?

Based on our rigorous state standards, teaching creativity, etc. is almost impossible. Using technology helps to make that possible. Since I have had an interactive board in my classroom, I have found new, exciting ways to teach my skills. I definitely think we have room to grow when it comes to technology integration in the schools, however I feel very blessed to have the technology that I do have.

This is a relatively new operation, and patients aion power leveling have been pleased with the results. It takes a little tissue from the areas you'd like wow gold to subtract as you get older, and puts it onto the areas you'd like to enhance.

The video really makes you think. I agree that at times we need to modernize education, but how do we do it when it changes every minute? How do we know if we are doing the best job we possibly can as educators when we aren't really sure where the end point will be, because of all the changes? What a powerful video. Thanks for sharing.

Its amazing that we are preparing children for jobs and technology that isn't even in existence yet. I too agree that we need to push to make classrooms more modern and get away from teaching skills based on memorization. I teach third grade and my students are exposed to a lot of technology like response clickers, an interwrite board, and web-based teaching like BrainPop.com. If you haven't checked out Brainpop.com, I highly recommend it!

Erica,
Thanks for sharing that video with me,it really makes you think. I guess it should not be so suprising if we look back from ten years ago to now. Also thanks for introducing me to teacher tube, I did not know about teacher tube until today. Being a teacher of 8th and 9th grade students, I am in total agreeance about teaching problem solving skills. Sometimes I am baffled at the things my students can't do, or don't want to do, to find a solution to a problem. Thanks for sharing your post with me.

After watching the video 'Shift-happens", one thought came to my mind. What is our purpose here on earth? How will technology serve that purpose? We look at hardware and software, but where does happiness come to play? How will we as humans be different than Data, the droid on Star Trek? Perhaps we should be introducing philosophy as curricular content to the high school, or even younger? Technology can help our society reach our goals, but only if, as a society, we know what those goals are. As a global community, how do we determine our destiny?

Hi Erica,
I really enjoyed reading your post. What caught my eye was the mention of the teachtube video. My AP just got back from a conference where she was also exposed to the "shift happens" video. I am the technology specialist on my campus and I found that video to be an eye-opener.

As a future teacher myself, I find that very interesting. I do agree often times schools need to be more modern, in a way that students can actually relate. I also agree that teaching problem solving and creativity and not just content, skills and simple processes is essential because I always remember when I was in school teachers basically would just make us pull out a book and make us memorize things we "need" to know. For most kids that technique makes what they have been told to learn to go in one ear and out the other. I feel as though if there were more updated and creative ways of learning students would be more focused and would actually remember the material. Since I am going to be a teacher not too far down the road, I feel as though I should begin collaborating now with other teachers to come up with new material as well as new techniques to promote lifelong learning, not just so the student could prepare for a test.
